It’s not like it’s flabby but just lifeless. There is decent low-end, meaning you can hear some bass notes, but even the bass is lacking in the sense of coming alive. The music doesn’t have life to it, if feels drab. It lacks clarity and dynamics that you’d expect to be able hear when you’re spending this kind of money on headphones (even ANC headphones). Whether the ANC is on or off, the sound is veiled overall. This is where things really went downhill. So that was disappointing to ‘hear’ that with ANC headphones at this price point. BUT, I think good ANC headphones shouldn’t be adding any noise. It reminds me of being at the ocean accept the sound is constant, rather than fluctuating with the waves coming in and going out. There is some white noise when you turn on the ANC. So I just put these on, turned on the ANC and I could just faintly hear the guy after that. I was trying to take a nap and it just wasn’t going to happen with out loud this guy was talking and laughing on his phone. For example, I was staying in a room where someone was talking loudly in the room next to me. You do notice a difference when the noise cancellation is turned on. Pairing works well and stays connected with the device it is paired with. Ear pads are comfortable and even though these aren’t ‘true’ over ear headphones, they don’t cause any significant discomfort when pressing against the outer edges of your ears. So depending on how long you wear these, that may be an issue. These headphones are a bit weighty though so you do get a hotspot under the headband within an hour or so of use. You can literally just put these headphones on w/out any music and it will do a nice job of dampening environmental noise around you. And this is probably the greatest strength of these headphones. These are a bit compressive feeling against your head and ears, but this is what causes really good passive noise isolation. At this price range I’d expect something a little nicer though. The 3.5mm cable to use as wired headphones works well and is ok quality. The included case is nice, the velcro strap is a smart touch. And unless you just want an expensive pair of headphones to use for meditation, there are far better options to consider for the money.Ĭurrently this retails for $150, but you can click here to check price and availability. And although there are some aspects of these headphones that succeed, the sound quality is not what you’d expect for ANC headphones in this price range. I’ve listened to, enjoyed, and reviewed many headphones costing anywhere from $10 to $2,000.
